Kyla’s Tips For a ~slightly~ More Satisfying Life

Okay friends, I don’t really know what this blog is anymore but I’m trying my best so we are just gonna roll with it. I try to be pretty candid here so thanks for coming along for the ride.

One day I realized that there are some things that I do that just make my life a teeny bit better than it was before and sometimes that can brighten your whole day, so here are some tips on things that can make life a little sweeter for you.

Make Your Bed

I know, I know, this seems tedious and annoying but hear me out. If you make your bed in the mornings before you leave for the day it will change your life. First, you are doing something productive in the morning so you feel a bit better about yourself and you get a sense of accomplishment. And when you get home for the day? You can be pleasantly surprised that your room looks clean (because honestly making your bed makes your room look 5x cleaner) and it generally feels like you have your life together! It’s a wonderful feeling after a stressful or long day.

Put Eucalyptus in Your Shower

Eucalyptus is a very inexpensive plant (I get a bundle for about $2.99 at Trader Joe’s) and it lasts for a while. The cool part is that when you put it in your shower, attached to your shower head but not directly in the line of water, it releases an essential oil due to the steam. Boom. Spa-worthy shower right there. It isn’t an intense smell but it is a nice light refreshing scent and it looks super cute and minimalist, so why not do something that will take 5 minutes?

Always Have Tea

I personally love hot tea, it solves so many problems. If I’m feeling sick I drink honey ginger tea with lemon and it helps to clear everything up much faster than medicine alone. If I’m cramping, I drink herbal tea and it warms my body and helps with the pain. If I’m feeling stressed I drink chamomile and I feel all my problems melting away. If I need a caffeine boost but don’t want a cup of coffee, I down some chai or earl gray and I’m ready to go. If I’m just plain cold! Basically, tea does what it needs to do EVERY time, so go start your tea collection.

Get a Garment Rack

This one goes out to my more fashion forward friends. Are you always late because you never know what to wear in the morning? Do you set your clothes out at night but are tired of doing it every night? Get a garment rack. I set out all of my clothes for the week, including shoes and accessories, on Sunday and I never have to worry about what I am going to wear on a certain day or how something is going to look and my weekday mornings go by so smoothly.

State Your Gratitudes

So I just recently started doing this in a more scheduled fashion but it has always helped. Every morning, I sit down with my cup of tea (see) and say out loud a few things that I am grateful for. They aren’t always big, sometimes I’m grateful for avocados, sometimes for a good friend. I just list a few things as they pop into my head and it really helps to start my day on a good note. I also do it after a particularly bad day because it helps remind me that not everything is bad. You can do this whenever you need but I think it helps trick my brain into seeing past a lot of the negative.

    1. Thank you! And yes, ginger tea with lemon is the first thing I do when I even think I’m getting sick.
