My Favorite Protective Styles

Hey my loves! With Spring Break upon us for many I thought it would be the perfect time to do a post on my favorite protective styles! Protective styles allow you to tuck your hair away for a while to allow it time away from the constant manipulation of different styles and the elements. It is a great way to help your hair grow faster and to take a break from actually having to do it. Keep reading to see which protective styles I like to do when I’m tired of doing my hair everyday.

Senegalese Twists

This is one of my favorite protective styles because it is quick and easy to put in and I can wear it for up to 6 weeks (even though I get bored waaaay before that). I can do different things with it like all down, a ponytail, half up-half down, middle part, side part, etc., the styles are endless. You can also do them in different sizes depending on the look you are going for.

Marley Twists

Marley twists are similar to Senegalese except they have a kinkier style that I love. They are a closer match to my actual hair texture so the style itself is always super cute. You can have the twists in different styes, colors (my actual hair was purple so I wanted purple twists as well), lengths, whatever you want.

Box Braids

I am obsessed with this protective style. You can do so much with box braids, even though they take forever to put in, but once they are in you don’t have to worry for another 6 weeks. Similar to twists, you can do different styles, sizes, colors, whatever you choose.

Faux Locs

This was a new protective style that I decided to try for spring break and I loved it. They are extremely versatile and for a more bohemian look you can add in pieces of curly hair, colored thread, gold accessories, anything that you choose! I even went into the ocean with this protective style and it held up through the waves.

Wigs

I’ve talked about this protective style before and you all know how much I love my wigs (check out my collection here). There are just so many different colors and styles and options, you will literally never run out of ideas. I like that my hair is tucked away in braids so that I am able to moisturize throughout the wig wear and I can take it off and let my hair breathe at night.

I taught myself how to do my own sengalese twists. Now I want to learn how to do box braids myself so I can stop paying other people a fortune to do them for me!! Great post girlie! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
